Join us on September 10, 2023 for a day of Fun and Suffering dedicated to someone in your life who has battled or is currently battling cancer.

Thank you to Crossfit Mecklenburg for sponsoring & hosting this event.

This event is dedicated to the pain and suffering that people all over the world endure every day while fighting cancer.

Teams of two to four people will be competing against each other to complete a combined total of 24,000 meters rowed. Our hope is that participants will dedicate their effort and suffering to a loved one they have lost or that is currently battling cancer.

There will be games and a Carolina Panthers watch party throughout the event, along with lots of sweat and plenty of beer and non-alcoholic options. The 24 Foundation is sponsoring all the drinks for the day and all registrants and attendees will enjoy complimentary beverages. Although we are asking for $50 dollars to participate in the row-a-thon, team sponsors can attend the event and enjoy complimentary beverages with any size donation. Food and drink tickets are also available for spectators.

100% of the proceeds will be donated to the 24 Foundation.

100% of Proceeds from this event will be donated to 24 Foundation

We are asking for donations of $50 for each registrant or $100 per team of two. We greatly encourage teams to gather sponsors and raise additional donations (this is a fundraiser after all!). Teams raising more than $500 in donations will be entered to win incentive prizes.

About 24 Foundation

24 Foundation’s mission is to inspire and engage communities to make an immediate impact on the lives of those affected by cancer. For us, that means more than funding research and goes beyond finding a cure. To 24 Foundation, that means investing in services that untangle the maze of appointments, tests, and treatments after diagnosis, and funding programs to increase the quality of life for survivors decades into the future.
United by the common vision of cancer navigation and survivorship for all, 24 Foundation has raised more than $25 million to date to support our mission.

24 Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit charity located in Charlotte, North Carolina.

About Michelle

Michelle Pratt was the sister of Joe Vogelbacher, co-founder of Sugar Creek Brewing and founder of this event. Michelle lost her battle in 2017 to a rare form of liver cancer (Chlorangiocarcinoma) that she fought with amazing courage for more than five years.

Michelle was a Nurse Practitioner at the Salisbury Hospital for Veterans. Michelle dedicated her life to helping Veterans and would go out of her way to help anyone that crossed her path. Michelle left behind two children, many nieces and nephews and a husband of more than twenty years. Before she passed away in 2017, Michelle created Michelle’s Mighty Mission to raise money for cancer research and to assist with living expenses for those struggling with the disease. Our goal with this event is to carry on her efforts by continuing to help those whose lives have been impacted by cancer.

Frequently Asked Questions

Each participant is responsible for a $50 registration fee, which helps to underwrite the cost of the event. If you cannot afford the fee and are a cancer survivor, contact Katherine@24foundation.org for a reduced registration. You can also register to volunteer, or join us as a spectator.

We will be running 60 non-competitive rowers in one heat. There will be 15 additional competitive rowers (teams of 2). That allows for a max total of 270 participants (teams of 2 – 4). If we get enough support and can secure the additional rowers, we will run multiple heats. We anticipate that the event will sell out quickly.

We have 60 non-competitive party boat rowers and 15 competitive boats ready for participants. We will be running the party boats beginning at 11 am, and competitive boats at 12 pm. We will add an additional heat if rowers become available.

Last year the times ranged from 1 hr 32 mins to 2 hours.

Registration opens at 10 am on event day.
